CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Bonny Oaks Driver Services Center at 6502 Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga, Tenn., will temporarily close for remodel on Monday, Oct. 19.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 26, the Driver Services Mobile Unit will be on-site to serve customers. The Mobile Unit will only accept card payments; no cash payments will be accepted. All normal services will be available except knowledge testing.

Customers who need to complete knowledge testing are encouraged to visit the Red Bank Driver Services Center located at 4873 Dayton Blvd. Chattanooga. Local coverage notes the agency says residents should go to the Red Bank Driver Services Center for knowledge tests, that the mobile unit will be available on October 26, and that there was no timeline given for the remodel of the permanent lobby.

The Bonny Oaks project is part of the department ongoing effort to improve the customer experience and provide modern, efficient, and comfortable Driver Services Centers across Tennessee. Once improvements to the permanent facility are complete, customers can expect an updated space with new furniture, upgraded equipment, new flooring and fresh paint throughout.

The department posted the plan on Oct. 12 and urged drivers to check other Driver Services Center locations online while Bonny Oaks is offline. Statewide, the Blountville Driver Services Center reopened Monday, Oct. 12, and a Driver Services Mobile Unit is now assisting customers at the future site of the new Hendersonville Driver Services Center on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
