Red Bank Community Pays Tribute to Joe Weeks Jumper

The quaint town of Red Bank, Tennessee, is heartbroken as it mourns the passing of one of its most beloved figures – Joe Weeks Jumper. Joe left this world peacefully on January 18, 2025, at his home, leaving behind a legacy that embodies creativity, kindness, and an undeniable community spirit.

A Chattanooga Native

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Chattanooga, Joe’s roots run deep in the Volunteer State. He graduated from Baylor School in 1978, where he wasn’t just another student but a *standout athlete*. His remarkable talent on the field earned him the cherished nickname of *“All-City”* when he was recognized as a member of the All-City football team in 1977. Joe excelled not only in football but also in basketball, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

University Days and Passion Pursuits

Joe continued his education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where his journey took an artistic turn. As a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, he poured his heart into writing, choreographing, and directing award-winning skits for Carnacus. It was during his college days that Joe’s love for theater, dance, set design, and music truly ignited, influencing his path in ways that would leave a mark on his community.

The Clay Pot – A Local Gem

After college, Joe ventured into the world of retail merchandising and design. He opened his own local business, The Clay Pot, in Riverview, which thrived for over 34 fantastic years. This beloved establishment became a cherished hub for all things creative, welcoming over one hundred “Potters” who worked with Joe to bring imaginative ideas to life. The Clay Pot was not just a store; it was a place where the community gathered for joy, learning, and inspiration, offering everything from stunning floral arrangements to festive holiday workshops and the ever-popular *Camp Joe Joe’s* summer camps.

A Heart of Gold

Joe’s friends and family will remember him as *everyone’s biggest cheerleader*. He possessed an extraordinary ability to uplift others, always finding beauty and humor, even in the toughest of times. His kindness radiated from him, making him a central figure in the lives of many.

A Loving Family Left Behind

Sadly, Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and James Calhoun Jumper. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Jane Hooton, along with her husband Mark, and brothers Cal Jumper and Jay Jumper, who is married to Dawn Jumper. Joe held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, including Suzanne, Amy, J. Cal, Hannah, Colton, and Will, and he absolutely adored his four great-nieces and nephews, who will carry on his legacy.

Celebrating Joe’s Life

The community will pay homage to Joe with a Celebration of Life service scheduled for Saturday, January 25, 2025, at The Baylor School Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1:00 – 2:30 PM, with the service beginning at 2:30 PM. Following the service, everyone is welcome to join in a reception at the Worsham Arena, where memories will be shared and cherished.

Honoring a Legacy

In lieu of flowers, the Jumper family has kindly requested supporting local florists by sending flowers to loved ones. As a community, let us come together to honor Joe’s remarkable life, celebrating the joy he brought to countless lives over the years.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lane Funeral Home, located at 601 Ashland Terrace in Chattanooga, TN. Together, we remember Joe Weeks Jumper, a true friend who has left an indelible mark on our hearts.
