Richard, a cherished member of the community, was born right here in our city on May 14, 1954, and he lived a life full of dedication and passion.

A Life of Hard Work and Commitment

Richard was the loving son of the late Eugene and Marie McDaniel. Throughout his life, he dedicated many years to contributing to the wellbeing of others, particularly through his work with Chattanooga Memorial Park and Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Richard was a familiar face in the local area, and many knew him for his unwavering commitment to his job. After 15 years of dedicated service, he retired on August 26, 2022, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and determination.

Passions Beyond Work

Aside from his professional life, Richard was a man of many interests. He was an avid sports fan, showing unwavering support for Alabama sports teams and keeping a close eye on the thrilling world of NASCAR. Whether it was cheering for his favorite team or collecting cherished moments from races, he always had a sparkle in his eye when discussing his interests.

Remembering a Loving Family Man

Richard’s passing has left a void not only in the community but also in his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara McDaniel, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they created a beautiful family. Their son, Christopher McDaniel, is now married to Jessica McDaniel, and they continue to cherish the values Richard instilled in them. Richard also held a special place in his heart for his step-daughter, Mary Giansanti, who is married to Todd Giansanti.

A Proud Grandfather

Richard embraced the role of grandfather with pride, doting over his grandchildren Leo and Ty McDaniel, along with Josh, Sophi, and Lulu Giansanti. He also welcomed the joy of being a great-grandfather to adorable little Carter, who brought a bright smile to his face.

Richard was deeply rooted in family, leaving behind a brotherhood that includes Thomas McDaniel and Tommy Kilgore, alongside sisters Attica Goforth and Kathy Slatton. Additionally, he was preceded in death by his brother Noel Henderson and sister Joyce Ann McDaniel. These bonds, woven together through love and memories, will forever honor Richard’s legacy.

As the community comes together to remember Richard, family and friends will gather for a visitation on Monday, January 27, from 1-4 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home, located at 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
