Chattanooga, TN – Northside Neighborhood House (NNH) is calling for donations of new school supplies as part of its annual Back To School distribution initiative. This drive aims to assist families residing in northern Hamilton County by providing essential educational items for students enrolling in local elementary, middle, and high schools.

Each year, NNH hosts a Back To School Shop that allows students to “shop” at no cost for vital supplies needed for the upcoming school year. The program focuses on creating a dignified and supportive environment where families can select necessary items without any financial burden. Last year, NNH successfully aided 57 households, benefiting 117 students across 24 Hamilton County Schools. The supplies included backpacks, binders, markers, and other learning essentials.

For this year’s supply drive, NNH has identified key items that are highly requested by families. Among the most needed supplies are Post-It Notes, Expo markers, Kleenex, paper towels, Clorox Wipes, 1-inch binders, Scotch tape, Ziplock bags, washable markers, batteries, and glue sticks. NNH emphasizes that all donated items must be new and never used to ensure they meet the needs of the students.

In efforts to accommodate and support families, NNH dedicates one-on-one time for each household during the distribution event. This ensures a meaningful experience for families as they prepare their children for the new school year. NNH’s Director of Stability has highlighted the significance of being fully equipped with necessary school supplies, especially with the first day of school approaching.

To contribute to the Back To School supply drive, donations must be submitted by July 18. Individuals can drop off or mail their items to NNH’s main office located at 211 Minor Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Additionally, contributions can also be made at one of NNH’s thrift stores in North Shore, Red Bank, or Soddy Daisy. For those opting for an online shopping experience, supplies can also be purchased via an Amazon Wish List and sent directly to NNH.

Families residing in Northern Hamilton County with students in need of supplies can reach out to NNH for assistance. To learn more about the Back To School Shop or to apply for free school supplies, interested individuals can call 423-267-2217.

NNH has been a pillar in the community, focusing not only on educational support but also on promoting stability and well-being for families in need. Through initiatives like the Back To School supply drive, the organization continues to foster a sense of community and ensure that students are well-equipped for their educational journeys, regardless of their economic circumstances. The yearly distribution further reinforces NNH’s commitment to enhancing the lives of residents in the area, paving the way for a bright and successful school year ahead for local students.
