Call for Local Artists to Showcase Creativity

As Chattanooga basks in the summer sun, preparations are underway for one of the city’s most anticipated artistic events, the Between the Bridges (BTB) Festival. Organizers have officially opened applications. Exclusively aiming to highlight local artists within a 45-mile radius of Chattanooga, the floor is open for artists to express their interest until Friday, June 28th.

Between The Bridges 2024 Not To Miss

The BTB Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20, promises a feast for the senses as it plans to host live music acts along with showcasing the work of approximately 40 local artists. To accommodate as many artists as possible, event organizers are offering participants the option to feature their work on one or both days.

The festival will span from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with the venue being the renowned Coolidge Park. Artists can look forward to displaying their creations in a vibrant festival setting sure to attract a bustling crowd, as the park will concurrently host the 7 Bridges Marathon.

A distinct feature of this year’s festival is the Potters Alley, a unique zone curated by Scenic City Clay Arts, aiming to represent a third of the artists featured. The remaining two-thirds of artists will be selected through AVA.

Thrilling College World Series Walk-off Win

Sports fans also had an eventful couple of days as the Vols registered an incredible comeback victory over Florida State, cementing their place in the prestigious College World Series. The game was nothing short of a rollercoaster, but the Vols’ tenacious playing style and their ability to compete until the very last contributed to the exciting walk-off hit win. As a result, their journey to the College World Series Title continues.

On the contrast, the Lookouts fell 14-3 to Visiting Biscuits. A tough day for Chattanooga’s home team, but the fans are hopeful for a strong bounce-back in the upcoming games.

Local Matters

Elsewhere in Chattanooga, the Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a high fall death on Raccoon Mountain. Police are also seeking help in identifying a hit-and-run driver involved in an incident on June 8.

Meanwhile, trucking executive David Parker shared his views on the current state of the transportation industry. He doesn’t foresee any significant improvements in the rates paid to carriers any time soon, adding to the challenges of the sector.
