Chattanooga, Tennessee, recently experienced the loss of several beloved community members, including Gordon Bell “Butch” Perkins, Ann McGuire Cash, Staff Sergeant Gregory LaMar Jordan, Gail Griffith, and Jerry Samuel Perkins. Each individual left behind a legacy of love and friendship that will not be forgotten.

Gordon Bell “Butch” Perkins

Gordon Bell “Butch” Perkins, 65, passed away on April 27, 2025. Born on June 29, 1959, in Chattanooga to Gordon Burnette and Mary Katherine Perkins, Butch was known for his love of the outdoors and passion for working on Chevrolet cars as an auto mechanic.

He is survived by his father, two sisters — Gayla Moon and Carol Crawford — and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family will remember Butch for his outgoing personality and infectious smile. A private service will be held in his honor at Chattanooga National Cemetery, and condolences can be sent to the family through the Heritage Funeral Home website.

Ann McGuire Cash

Ann McGuire Cash, born on August 6, 1940, also passed away on April 27, 2025. Details regarding her life and contributions to the community are still being gathered as family and friends come together to remember her.

Staff Sergeant Gregory LaMar Jordan

Staff Sergeant Gregory LaMar Jordan, E-5, of the United States Air Force, passed away on April 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. His service and dedication to his country will be honored by those who knew him.

Gail Griffith

Gail Griffith, 78, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, peacefully passed away at her home on April 27, 2025. Born on February 16, 1947, in Chattanooga to the late Paul and Mary Griffith, Gail’s warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly by friends and family.

Jerry Samuel Perkins

Jerry Samuel Perkins, age 76, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. Born in July 1948 to Chester and Alice Perkins, Jerry grew up on Signal Mountain and developed a profound admiration for nature, often indulging in hunting and fishing with loved ones. He graduated from Red Bank High School in 1966 and worked various jobs throughout his lifetime, most notably at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum until his retirement in 2013.

Known for his unwavering support and kind-hearted nature, Jerry is survived by his wife, Sandra Perkins; daughters Nichole Perkins and Winky Owens; sons Danny Alexander and Brian Alexander; and grandchildren. A visitation will be held on December 26th at Lane Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service on December 27th, with burial at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Gini

Additionally, a community member named Gini, born on April 25, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, recently passed away. Gini was an educated individual, holding a bachelor’s degree from Women’s College of Greensboro and was actively involved in the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. Friends and family will gather to honor her memory on May 3, 2025, with a memorial service following a visitation.
