Chattanooga Community Comes Together to Remember Robert “Bob” Edward Schulz
The beautiful city of Chattanooga is grieving the loss of one of its own, Robert “Bob” Edward Schulz, who passed away on January 3, 2025, at the venerable age of 82. Bob’s journey came to an end in the very woods he cherished, a fitting farewell for a man whose life was a testament to adventure and nature.
A Life Full of Adventure
Born and raised in the charming town of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Bob displayed an adventurous streak from a young age. At just 18, he met the love of his life, Judith Ann Schulz. They built a life together, eventually settling in Chattanooga after his honorable eight-year service in the U.S. Air Force as a dental technician. Bob’s military service took him and Judith to various locations, but it was in Chattanooga that they truly made their home.
Raising a Family
In their beautiful Chattanooga home, Bob and Judith raised four amazing sons, Chris, Robbie, Andy, and Terry. As a devoted father, Bob instilled values of hard work and curiosity into his boys. He worked for several notable organizations, including the Chattanooga Times, Channel 12, and Aflac, excelling in his sales career. His talent and dedication earned him numerous awards and accolades over the years.
A Passion for Nature
Bob had an undeniable love for the great outdoors. From hiking up challenging trails to fishing in serene lakes, he found peace beneath the vast skies and among the vibrant trees. Not one to sit idly, he often set out on adventures, seeking out hidden treasures like arrowheads and treasures at estate sales.
His zest for life didn’t dwindle with age. Bob had an insatiable curiosity and was always up for exploring new places, whether those were tucked away trails or bustling city streets. He had an adventurous spirit that inspired everyone around him, and he shared his passion for nature with his family, teaching them to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of the world.
A Loving Legacy
Sadly, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith, and his parents, Herbert and Emma Schulz. He also mourned the loss of his siblings, Glen Schulz and Sharon Waldeck, along with his half-brother Kenneth and half-sister Lorraine Vanderlip. This great loss must have left a hole in Bob’s heart, but his spirit lives on through his family.
He is survived by his four sons, and the love he shared with them continues through his grandchildren: Zach, Amber, Jasper, Ellie, Cooper, Theo, and Mike, along with three adorable great-grandchildren. And let’s not forget Bob’s loyal canine daughter, Storm, who brought joy and companionship into his life.
Honoring His Memory
As the Chattanooga community reflects on the profound impact Bob had on those around him, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory can make donations to a state or national park, allowing Bob’s love for nature to flourish even after his passing.
Bob’s journey may have come to a close, but the memories and lessons he left behind are treasures that will continue to be cherished by his loved ones and community. Arrangements for his service have been entrusted to the Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga, TN as friends and family pay their respects and reflect on a life well-lived.
