Chattanooga Mourns the Loss of a Beloved Matriarch

Chattanooga, Tennessee, is a city engulfed in sorrow as the community reflects on the life of LaTasha LaShay Hart-Burch, a cherished matriarch who passed away at the young age of 42. Born on May 8, 1982, LaTasha was a shining light to her family and friends, embodying love, protection, and dedication throughout her life. Her journey sadly concluded on April 1, 2025, but the memories she leaves behind will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Loving Family Woman

LaTasha was the daughter of Antonia Regina Hart Moten and Micheal Bernard Jones Sr., and she grew up in a warm family environment in Chattanooga. Navigating her education in the Walker County and Hamilton County Schools, she learned early on the value of family connections and how crucial they are to one’s identity. LaTasha made it a priority to express her love for her family members, regularly reminding them how much they meant to her.

Throughout her life, LaTasha emerged as a compelling protector for her siblings and later took on an even larger role as a defender for her children. It is safe to say that her family was her greatest treasure, and she devoted herself to ensuring they felt loved, supported, and safeguarded from the world outside.

Remembering a Legacy

LaTasha is preceded in death by several loved ones, including her mother, Antonia Moten; father, Micheal Jones Sr.; and her beloved grandson, Vincent Carter Burch. She is survived by her husband, Victor Burch Sr., and their vibrant family, including their son, Victor Burch Jr., and their two daughters, Diamond and Veronica Burch. This devoted mother was also blessed with five beautiful grandchildren, Mi’cah Burch, Victor Burch III, Nevaeh, Marcquez Jr., and Saint Copeny, each of whom she adored with all her heart.

Her legacy extends beyond her immediate family. LaTasha was one of twelve siblings, with six sisters and five brothers who will carry on her spirit of unity and love. Those siblings include Tia Fortson, Carolyn Nicholson, Myonna Jones, Aubreona Pollard, and brothers Anthony Hinton, Brandon Jones, Michael Jones Jr., Savon Jones, and Orlando Jones. Each had their own unique bond with LaTasha, sharing countless memories filled with laughter and joy.

A True Friend to Many

Beyond her family ties, LaTasha was surrounded by a network of supportive relatives and cherished friends, including her grandmother, Gloria Moorer; stepmother, LaFonda Witcher; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special mention is made of her dear friend, Danny Westfield, who played an essential role in her life.

The community is invited to honor LaTasha’s life at her upcoming public viewing, which will take place at the John P. Franklin Funeral Home in Chattanooga starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Following the viewing, a memorial service will commence at noon to celebrate the loving life she led. After the service, LaTasha will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memory Gardens-East, a serene spot for her loved ones to visit in remembrance of her gentle spirit.

A Lasting Impact

LaTasha LaShay Hart-Burch may have departed this world, yet her impact will endure through the hearts and memories of those she loved. A true matriarch, she showed us the beauty of familial bonds and the importance of making loved ones feel cherished. LaTasha’s soul will surely be missed, but her legacy of love and togetherness will live on in the community of Chattanooga and beyond.
