In a significant breakthrough, the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) on Friday announced the arrests of two individuals, identified as 18-year-old Allen Ray and 36-year-old Dominique Collins, in connection with the targeted shooting of a 14-year-old teen in April. The incident took place in the 7900 block of Shallowford Road in the backdrop of a convenience store, according to the HERE News Network.

Suspects Face Multiple Charges

Both Ray and Collins face charges of attempted first-degree murder, and reckless endangerment. Furthermore, Collins has been charged with possessing drugs for resale. They were taken into custody and remanded at the Hamilton County Jail. The victim, whose identity is being withheld due to being a minor, survived the shooting with non-life-threatening injuries.

Details Of The Shooting

CPD officers had reportedly received multiple calls pertaining to gunshots being fired on April 20, shortly after 10 a.m. They discovered the teenage victim with injuries near a vehicle at the gas station.

A thorough investigation revealed that the suspects exited from another car and opened fire on the victim’s car. According to the police, others in the car with the victim were fortunate enough to escape being shot.

In trying to escape the situation, the driver of the victim’s car lost control and crashed into a nearby woods. By the time police arrived at the location, the two suspects had already fled the scene.

The Investigation and Arrests

The section of Shallowford Road where the incident took place was cordoned off during the initial stages of the investigation. Working closely with the community, the Chattanooga Police department made a breakthrough by identifying and arresting both the suspects in connection with the case.

The CPD continues to urge residents to come forward with any information that could help prevent such incidents or aid in the arrest of potentially dangerous criminals.

In a statement, a spokesperson said, “Our community’s safety is our top priority, and we are committed to bringing to justice those who put it at risk. This teen’s life has been forever changed due to this needless act of violence. We encourage any members of the community who may have additional information to please come forward.”
