High-Speed Police Chase in Chattanooga Results in Multiple Arrests and Serious Damage

This past Sunday night was anything but ordinary in Chattanooga as a series of audacious, high-speed police chases sent shockwaves through the community. Residents witnessed a dramatic chain of events involving stolen vehicles, reckless driving, and even a police cruiser heist, all taking place within a matter of hours.

A Wild Chase on Banks Road

The night kicked off around 8 p.m. when deputies attempted to pull over a Hyundai Elantra on Banks Road, located in East Brainerd. The driver behind the wheel was identified as 21-year-old Jalen J. Baker, who had other plans. Instead of stopping, Baker took off at breakneck speeds, leading police on a thrilling chase through the streets of Chattanooga.

The heart-pounding pursuit came to a crash end at the intersection of Gillespie Road and Menlo Drive, where the Elantra collided with some shrubbery and finally came to a halt. Baker was taken into custody immediately at the scene, but an unidentified passenger decided to make a run for it and is still at large.

This wasn’t just any old car ride. The Hyundai Elantra, it turns out, had been reported stolen just the month before. Baker now finds himself facing a laundry list of charges including felony evading, reckless driving, theft of a motor vehicle, speeding, and driving on a suspended license. To make matters worse, he also had several outstanding warrants for theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, adding to his already hefty legal troubles.

Another Chase Unfolds

North Moore Road. The suspect, identified as Jaden Jones, had allegedly stolen a shiny GMC Yukon Denali and was not willing to stop when officers spotted him at 9:21 a.m.

Brainerd Road and North Moore Road. This reckless maneuver allowed him to evade capture, but law enforcement was hot on his trail. The chase ended when Jones abandoned the stolen vehicle on Highway 153 and tried to make a getaway on foot, only to be apprehended after police followed the sound of barking dogs. He tried to mislead officers by lying about his age, claiming to be a minor; however, that didn’t help his situation.

A Leap from Shoplifting to Cruising

shoplifting at Walmart. While being handcuffed, he somehow managed to steal a police cruiser! This bizarre turn of events led to him driving wildly around the streets, with no care for safety, until he eventually crashed the stolen cruiser into another vehicle, flipping it multiple times. After this wild ride, Pickett was also captured and transported to Erlanger hospital due to injuries sustained during the crash.
