Chattanooga Hosts Thrilling Southern Summer Series
The American Jet Sport Association (AJSA) successfully conducted the third and fourth rounds of the 2025 Southern Summer Series from May 30 to June 1 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This thrilling watercraft racing event drew a robust attendance and featured a wide range of competitors from various classes. Following a period of rain, nearly perfect racing conditions prevailed, creating an exciting atmosphere for both participants and fans alike.
Located at Chester Frost Park in Hixson, Tennessee, the venue was praised for its ample parking, beautiful scenery, and spacious race setups. Local food vendors and a grassy shoreline provided an inviting environment for spectators to enjoy the action. However, there were minor challenges related to rocky and unstable footing at the water’s edge that led to a few stumbles among racers and attendees.
Approximately 80 race entries were recorded over the weekend, featuring more than 50 racers competing across over a dozen classes. The event was bolstered by extensive promotional efforts from AJSA and title sponsor Mountain Motorsports, including advertisements and billboards that attracted families, friends, and local residents to the event.
Focus on Youth and New Competitors
AJSA made it a key initiative to promote youth and less-experienced racers during the event, fostering a community spirit that encourages novice and younger competitors to participate in the sport. In the Jr. – Ski Intermediate 1050cc Stock (8-15 yr) class, standout racers included Cameron Spooner, Charlie Adams, and Kylie Meier, who took their places on the podium.
Deven Farthing was another name to watch, showing consistent strong performance in the Pro Ski 1050 class. Throughout the weekend, he maintained his position, achieving podium finishes and contributing to the excitement of this competitive category.
Competitive Class Highlights
The Ski 1500 (A/B Stock) class proved to be fiercely competitive, with Harrison Reeve, Ethan Wilson, and Taylor Parker emerging as the top three finishers. Wilson, a 21-year-old racer, acknowledged the community feel of AJSA and the great opportunities for competitive racing it provides.
In Sport Spec class action, Jaxe Rowe, Treyton Smith, and Morgan Allen showcased their skills by securing the top three spots in another thrilling display of watercraft racing.
The Pro Runabout 1100 class brought an exciting match-up between Jonathan McCreary and Brian Baldwin. Baldwin triumphed in Saturday’s race. However, he was unable to compete in Sunday’s event due to celebrating his birthday.
Upcoming Events in the Series
The Southern Summer Series continues to build momentum as it heads toward the season finale — the U.S. Open in Macon, Georgia, scheduled for late August. Prior races were held in early April in Guntersville, Alabama, laying the foundation for ongoing competition and anticipation leading up to the championship.
AJSA’s next event will be held on July 4-5 at Isothermal Community College in Spindale, North Carolina, and promises to draw fans and racers in another showcase of thrilling watercraft action.
As the series progresses, the AJSA remains committed to supporting both seasoned and new talents in the sport, ensuring that the excitement of watercraft racing continues to flourish.
