Farewell, Janice King: Dunlap’s Beloved Citizen Remembered

A wave of sorrow has swept across Dunlap, Tennessee as Janice King, a much-loved member of the community, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Born to the late Clayton Rogers, Sr. and Josephine Morris Rogers on March 8, 1965, she was 58 at the time of her demise.

A Life Filled with Affection, Generosity, and unmatched Love for Animals

Janice King was a woman known for her affection for all living beings. Her love for animals was legendary in Dunlap. Her home was often filled with her beloved dogs, Bella, Harley, Jacks, Molly and Buddy, along with many other animals she rescued during her lifetime. A passionate animal lover, she treated these animals as her own family and was well-acknowledged in the community for her nurturing and caring nature.

Aside from her love for animals, Janice was a passionate plant enthusiast and was known for her picturesque garden filled with beautiful flowers. Known as a fantastic cook, her culinary skills wooed many, and her family get-togethers were a much-anticipated affair within her neighbourhood. She was married to Billy King, Jr., with whom she shared a beautiful bond.

Final Farewell to Janice King

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Rogers, Sr.; mother, Josephine Morris Rogers; brothers, Clayton Rogers, Jr. and Matt Rogers. She has survived by her husband, Billy King, Jr.; sons, Jeff (Brandi Smartt) Walters, Charlie Walters; brother, Matt Rogers; grandchildren, Mason Walters, Kayden Walters, and many special friends.

In remembrance and to bid her a final goodbye, the family will hold a visitation on Monday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, Tennessee. Funeral services are also on Monday, March 4, at 1 p.m. CT at Tate Funeral Home, following which she will be laid to rest at the Long Acres Cemetery in Stevenson, Alabama. The pallbearers will be her sons, Charlie Walters and Jeff Walters, a heart-touching homage only compounded by the countless memories and experiences they shared with her.
