Gas Prices in Chattanooga Take a Little Hop

Hey there, residents of Chattanooga! If you’ve filled up your gas tanks lately, you might have noticed a little pinch in your wallet. Average gasoline prices in the city have soared by 13.6 cents per gallon just in the last week, making it quite the topic of conversation at the coffee shop or your favorite local diner. As of now, the average price stands at $2.72 per gallon, according to a recent survey conducted across 170 gas stations in the area.

Comparing the Prices

When you think back a month ago, things didn’t look so steep. Prices have increased by 4.1 cents per gallon since then, and if we take a glance back a whole year, you’ll see that prices are up by 11.2 cents. It seems like every time we fill up, we’re paying just a little bit more.

Now, not every gas station in Chattanooga is charging the same amount. For those looking for a bit of a deal, the cheapest gas station in town offered gas for just $2.44 per gallon yesterday! On the flip side, if you strayed a little too close to the priciest spot, you’d find yourself paying as much as $2.97 per gallon. That’s a whopping 53 cents difference! It really goes to show, shopping around can save you a few bucks!

Tennessee’s Gas Game

Looking beyond Chattanooga, Tennessee’s gas prices are similarly varied. Yesterday, the lowest price reached $2.39 per gallon, while the highest could set you back a staggering $3.89 per gallon. It’s quite the range, isn’t it? That gives a huge $1.50 difference depending on where you pull in to fill up.

A Glimpse at National Trends

6.5 cents per gallon over the last week and now sits at $3.09 per gallon. When you consider a month’s time, it’s up by 4.5 cents and holds just a slight 1.8 cents increase from a year ago.

Diesel Prices on the Rise

8.1 cents, bringing it to $3.606 per gallon. This increase can be attributed to rising oil prices—last week’s climb was the highest we’ve witnessed since July. Cold weather has also played a role in pushing diesel prices higher due to increased demand for heating oil.
