Trends & Analysis

As noted by the petroleum analysts at HERE News, a majority of the country’s 50 states have experienced a boost in gasoline prices over the past week. This upward trend is typical for this period of the year, as the country gears up for the summer fuel switch. The shift to summer gasoline often leads to a supply crunch due to the peak refinery maintenance season, thereby triggering a hike in prices.

The pinch felt by consumers at the pump is currently manageable, with prices nearly 30 cents higher than mid-January. However, experts warn that this is likely to change as we step into the peak refinery maintenance period.
