Chattanooga

Recent law enforcement activities in Hamilton County have resulted in multiple arrests, including charges related to drug possession and high-speed pursuits. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department has been actively engaging in operations to tackle crime in the area.

One notable arrest involved Ambrocio Juarez, a 20-year-old male taken into custody at 2008 Blackford St., Chattanooga. Although the charges against Juarez were not specified, he was arrested without incident by the Hamilton County Sheriff.

In another significant case, Cherieca Faye Blackburn, a 37-year-old woman, was arrested at 510 Central Dr., Chattanooga, and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or deliver. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the distribution and usage of methamphetamine in the community.

In a separate case, a jury found Gabriel Boykins guilty of two counts of second-degree murder. This conviction stems from the deaths of a mother and daughter, marking a somber chapter in local criminal proceedings.

Another alarming arrest was that of David Michael Epstein, a 42-year-old male apprehended in Gainesville, Florida. Epstein faced serious charges, including possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material and 24 counts of engaging in sexual activities involving animals. His arrest followed an investigation initiated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after they received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children. During the arrest on June 3, 2025, officials seized several electronic devices intended for forensic analysis.

The threat of danger on local roads was also underscored by the capture of Scott Gooden, who was arrested after a police chase that started on I-75. The pursuit ended after a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near the Riverpark along Amnicola Highway. Gooden attempted to evade capture by entering restricted federal property at the Navy Operations Center but was ultimately apprehended. Records indicate that he had outstanding warrants originating from Murfreesboro prior to his arrest.

In a strategic multi-agency operation, three confirmed gang members were arrested alongside two additional individuals at a residence where authorities suspected the presence of narcotics and firearms. During this operation, methamphetamine was discovered in plain view, leading to a total of five arrests connected to the possession of controlled substances.

One of the most significant drug-related incidents involved Errol Baker, 42, who is facing charges following the seizure of over 100 grams of fentanyl during two executed search warrants in Butler and Hamilton counties. Authorities also retrieved over 90 grams of cocaine, around $5,400 in cash, a Mercedes Benz, and a Slingshot motorcycle in connection to Baker’s operations. He has been charged with two counts of drug possession and was transported to Butler County Jail.

The Hamilton County Sheriff, Austin Garrett, has underscored the critical nature of collaboration among law enforcement agencies in successfully apprehending these suspects. The increasing prevalence of drug-related activities and related violent crimes continues to pose challenges for law enforcement in the region, prompting concerted efforts to enhance public safety.

These recent arrests paint a concerning picture of crime in Hamilton County, highlighting the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Authorities remain vigilant and committed to combating these issues through coordinated efforts and thorough investigations.
