A viewing will be held to celebrate his life, where family and friends can pay their respects.

Chattanooga, Tennessee – Cedric Lebron “Big Ced” Josey, Sr. passed away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 51, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and a deep commitment to family. Born on December 20, 1973, in Chattanooga, he lived there his entire life and was a proud product of Howard High School. Cedric further enhanced his skills at Job Corps in Knoxville, earning degrees in auto mechanics and welding.

Throughout his career, Cedric demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. He was employed at Aeryson from March 7, 2007, until 2013, before spending more than five years at Miller and concluding his working life at Gestamp. His colleagues and clients alike recognized his commitment to excellence and the meticulous nature of his work.

Cedric was also known for his great love for his family, which he showcased through both his actions and active presence in their lives. His interests included a passion for cars, where he enjoyed working on and discussing various automotive projects. Music played an important role in Cedric’s life, providing a consistent backdrop to his daily activities.

In addition to his love for family and craftsmanship, Cedric found joy in various pastimes. He relished the thrill of riding a jet ski, often referring to it as his “happy place.” Simple pleasures, such as grilling with family and friends, fishing, and spending quality time with his loved ones, were vital elements of his daily life.

Cedric is survived by his father, Jimmy James Coger Jr.; his son, Cedric Lebron Josey Jr.; his brother, Quincy Richardson; his sisters, Brandy Powell, Bambi (Deon) Moore, and Tamisha McGee; as well as uncles, Eddie James (Michelle) Josey Jr. and Charles E (Brenda) Coger, and aunt Diane Josey. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Genetta Josey, and several grandparents. His family expressed gratitude to those who provided support and comfort during their time of sorrow. The impact Cedric had on those around him will be reflected in the stories they share and the love they carry forward.

A viewing is scheduled for May 15 at John P Franklin Funeral Home in Chattanooga, from 9 a.m. until the start of the service at 3 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Cedric Lebron Josey, Sr.
