Attendees networking at the Scenic City Summit tech conference

News Summary

Chattanooga is gearing up for the Scenic City Summit, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a three-day tech conference. Organized by the Chattanooga Technology Council, the event aims to attract 300 to 400 attendees from major Southeast cities. The summit will feature skill-building workshops, breakout sessions, and a hackathon, all focused on advancing technology. With collaboration from local tech communities, this milestone summit promises an enriching experience for tech enthusiasts and experts, contributing significantly to the region’s tech landscape.

Chattanooga is set to host the Scenic City Summit, its largest annual tech conference, from June 19-21. This year marks a significant milestone as the summit celebrates its 10th anniversary by expanding to a three-day event that aims to attract tech enthusiasts and experts from across the Southeast.

Organized by the Chattanooga Technology Council (ChaTech), the summit is expecting an attendance of between 300 to 400 participants. Vicki Farnsworth, chair of the ChaTech board, emphasizes the goal of drawing attendees from major cities like Nashville and Atlanta to create an enriching and diverse tech experience.

The event will take place at three venues: the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), the Chattanooga Convention Center, and the Edney Innovation Center. The first day at UTC will feature skill-building workshops on software development, data management, and cybersecurity. The second day at the Chattanooga Convention Center will highlight the main tech conference, focusing on topics like artificial intelligence and data analytics. The final day will host a hackathon at the Edney Innovation Center, where participants will work in teams to tackle community challenges.

Branden Schwartz, the summit’s committee chair, noted that the event has evolved in response to the community’s needs, emphasizing its role as a center for innovation and collaboration. This year, there is collaboration with eight local tech communities, including DevOpsDays Chattanooga and Gig City Data Jam, to enhance the richness of the offerings at the summit.

The summit’s program will feature more than 30 breakout sessions, workshops, and keynote speeches focused on the latest advancements in technology, with special attention to themes like artificial intelligence, user experience design (UX), and cloud infrastructure. Notable speakers scheduled to present include NASA engineer Arianne Price and AI strategist Will Haire.

Ticket sales for the summit range from $49 to $200, varying by venue and group type. Interested participants can purchase tickets until the last day of the event or until they sell out.

The Scenic City Summit has become a vital component of Chattanooga’s tech landscape. ChaTech, which has been operational since 2002, focuses on fostering connections within the tech ecosystem across a 16-county region. Supported by numerous organizations, including the Tennessee Valley Authority and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the summit continues to thrive as a platform for knowledge sharing and community engagement in technology.

With a rich lineup of activities and expert speakers, the Scenic City Summit stands to strengthen the Chattanooga tech community and inspire innovations that can impact the region and beyond.
