Chattanooga, Tenn. — Hamilton County deputies pulled a person from the water Friday afternoon at Chester Frost Park after a possible drowning call, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said.
A call about a person in the water brought deputies to the park. When they arrived, they found a person deceased in the lake and began working the scene with detectives from the sheriff’s criminal investigations unit.
The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to examine the circumstances around the death. Officials asked residents to keep the family in their thoughts while the review continues.
Chester Frost Park sits on Chickamauga Lake in the Hixson area of north Hamilton County, a family shoreline park with boat ramps and heavy weekend use. Park rangers, county medics and state wildlife officers helped with the recovery operation, the sheriff’s office said.
Lake calls at the park often bring a mix of patrol boats, rangers and medics because the shoreline stretches along Gold Point Circle access points. Friday’s response followed that multi-agency pattern once the water emergency was reported.
The sheriff’s office has not released a cause of death beyond describing a possible drowning, and the medical examiner’s review will guide what comes next. Weekend boat traffic around the Hixson shoreline often brings families to the same ramps deputies used Friday. Anyone who saw activity on the water before deputies arrived can still contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office with a tip.
