Chattanooga, TN – The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s indoor volleyball team is gearing up for an exciting season in the fall of 2025, with a comprehensive schedule featuring 28 total matches, including strong competition and significant new talent. Head coach Julie Torbett Thomas announced the regular season’s lineup on Tuesday, and the Mocs are poised to kick off their campaign on August 29.

The Mocs will begin the season on the road with a challenging series of non-conference matches, starting with a game against Norfolk State and followed by a match against UCF on the same day. This season’s non-conference slate consists of 12 matches, including encounters with notable teams like UCF and Alabama, making it the first time since 2019 that Chattanooga has faced two Power 4 teams in a single season. The team’s schedule also features 11 home matches, 11 road matches, and six neutral site contests.

Chattanooga’s Southern Conference action begins on September 26 against Mercer, with a total of 16 conference matches. Among the key home games, fans can look forward to exciting rivalries, including encounters with UNCG and Wofford on October 3-4 and a highly anticipated in-state match against ETSU on October 23. The Mocs will conclude their regular season with three home matches against Western Carolina, The Citadel, and Furman, setting the stage for postseason play.

The Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled for November 18-22 in Asheville, North Carolina, drawing attention to the competitive nature of college volleyball in the region. Coach Torbett Thomas has expressed enthusiasm about the team’s schedule, stating that it offers valuable experience that will prepare the Mocs for the challenges of the Southern Conference.

To build excitement leading up to the season, fans are invited to two preseason events at Maclellan Gymnasium: the Blue-Gold Scrimmage on August 19 and an exhibition match against Belmont later that week. Both events are set to start at 5 p.m. ET and are free to the public, providing an opportunity for supporters to catch an early glimpse of the team.

The 18th annual Chattanooga Classic will take place from September 4-6, starting with a home match against Ohio University. In addition, the team will participate in in-state tournaments in Memphis and Nashville to wrap up the non-conference schedule. These events are pivotal for establishing momentum as the Mocs transition into the Southern Conference season.

Adding to the roster, Chattanooga has welcomed Addison Walker as the final addition for the 2025 season. Walker is an accomplished outside hitter from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, recognized for her impressive athletic performance and academic excellence, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her inclusion is expected to bolster the team’s competitive edge this season.

Attendance for all Chattanooga volleyball matches will be free for the general public, ensuring accessibility for local fans eager to support their team. For those unable to attend in person, matches will also be available to stream via ESPN+, allowing broader engagement with the team’s journey throughout the season.
