CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Average gasoline prices in Chattanooga have risen 8.4 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $3.81 per gallon on Monday, based on a survey of 170 stations in the city.

Even with the weekly jump, prices in Chattanooga are 8.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. They stand $1.21 per gallon higher than a year ago, when the local average on Oct. 12, 2025, was $2.60 a gallon. On the same date in 2024 the city averaged $2.81, and in 2022 it averaged $3.33, so today’s price sits near the top of the five-year range.

Chattanooga drivers are paying a bit less than their neighbors. Knoxville averages $3.90 a gallon, up 1.4 cents from last week, and the Tennessee average is $3.91, up 0.4 cents.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline has fallen 0.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $4.29, which is still $1.28 higher than a year ago, and diesel has decreased 5.9 cents to $6.248 per gallon. More states saw prices fall than rise over the past week.

Analysts are watching two refineries that were in the path of Hurricane Isaias, since their status could affect fuel supply in the days ahead. Patrick De Haan, a petroleum analyst who tracks national fuel prices, said the trend is cautiously moving in the right direction for motorists but that it is too early to call the pressure on fuel prices resolved.
