CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga and Hamilton County voters have until Thursday, Oct. 29, to vote early in the November state and federal election, with six sites open around the county.
The main site is the Election Commission office at 700 River Terminal Road in Chattanooga. It keeps the longest schedule: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
The other five sites open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Inside the city, that includes the Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center on North Moore Road. Outside it, voters can use the Hixson Community Center on School Drive, Chestnut Hall at the Commons in Collegedale, the Harrison Center in the former Harrison Elementary on Highway 58, and the Soddy Daisy Community Center on Depot Street. Any registered county voter may use any of them.
Voters need a government photo ID from either Tennessee or Washington, and an expired card still counts. Before heading out, election officials suggest confirming your registration and looking over a sample ballot. College IDs, IDs from other states or local governments, and IDs issued to non-citizens are turned away.
Scott Allen, the county’s administrator of elections, is asking voters to read the three proposed state constitutional amendments before they arrive so lines keep moving. One would allow judges to deny pretrial bail for a short list of serious charges, one would bar a state property tax, and one would rewrite crime victims’ rights. Election Day is Nov. 3.
