Soccer game in progress

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The best high school girls soccer teams in Tennessee arrive in Chattanooga this week, and four of them are local, as the TSSAA state tournament opens Tuesday, Oct. 27, and runs through Friday, Oct. 30.

The Sports & Events Corporation is hosting the event with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. Only 32 teams are left across Division I and Division II. Early rounds are spread across local campuses, including Baylor School, Boyd Buchanan School and The Howard School, before the title matches move to Finley Stadium, the home field of Chattanooga Football Club.

Two area public schools play Tuesday night. Signal Mountain meets Liberty Creek at 6:30 p.m. in the Class AA bracket, and CSAS faces Merrol Hyde at the same hour in Class A. Winners advance to semifinals on Wednesday evening.

The private school finals are set for Thursday, Oct. 29, with the DII-AA game at 4 p.m. and the DII-A game at 7 p.m. Division I crowns three champions on Friday: Class A at 10 a.m., Class AA at 1 p.m. and Class AAA at 4 p.m.

Tickets bought online cost $13 for playoff games and $15 for championship games. Prices rise at the gate to $15 for playoff matches and $20 for title games.

Full schedules and ticket links are posted by the Sports & Events Corporation, and fans are welcome at every site to cheer on the teams.
