CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Greek street food chain is marking its arrival in Chattanooga by giving away lunch. Nick the Greek holds its grand opening at the Signal Mill complex on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and every guest waiting in line between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. gets one entree on the house.
The restaurant is in Suite 105 at 205 Manufacturers Road. The owners, who already run two Nick the Greek restaurants in Nashville, have warned that a long line is likely but say it should keep moving.
The brand began in San Jose, California, in 2014, started by three cousins who all share the name Nick, after their grandfather. It has grown to nearly 80 locations across California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Kansas, and the Tennessee franchise group has plans beyond Chattanooga, with sites lined up in East Nashville’s Inglewood area, Mt. Juliet and Brentwood.
The menu centers on a vertical rotisserie. Guests pick a protein such as beef and lamb gyro meat, chicken gyro, pork belly, beefteki, falafel or chicken or steak souvlaki, then build it into a sandwich, a plate or a bowl. Sides include fresh-cut fries and Greek fries topped with feta, scallions and dill, and desserts include baklava, frozen yogurt and Greek donuts.
The owners said they looked at downtown spaces before choosing Signal Mill, drawn by the building’s character and its spot near the river.
The restaurant also handles catering and large to-go orders with advance notice.
The Tuesday giveaway is limited to one free entree per person. The Chattanooga store is the group’s next step after its Nashville Yards debut, with more Tennessee openings expected through 2026.
